Slow Cooker French Onion Soup Recipes
There are all kinds of soups but the French onion soup is considered one of the finest of them all. With your slow cooker, you can serve this classic appetizer up in many ways, including the following.
Basic Slow Cooker French Onion Soup
You will need 4 large onions (minced), 2 tablespoons of melted butter, olive oil (1 tablespoon), 4 tablespoons of flour, a couple of teaspoons of sugar, pepper (one half tablespoon), and 4 cans of beef broth.
Get some of the butter, sugar, olive oil and some onions and put it in the slow cooker. Cook this for about 45 minutes (high). Add some flour, beef broth and spray some pepper and in another 15 minutes this slow cooker French onion soup is done.
Slow Cooker French Onion Soup with Mozzarella
The ingredients are: onions (5 small pieces, minced), flour (2 tablespoons), butter (3/4 cup), beef stock (8 cups), salt (2 teaspoons), 2 cups of Mozzarella cheese, and a couple of tablespoons of chives.
In a frying pan, sauté the butter, flour and the onions; continue until the onions become somewhat translucent in color. Put this in the slow cooker and pour in the beef broth along with some salt. Set it to high (this will take about 5 hours).
Get the slow cooker French onion soup and pour into several bowls and place on top of the oven. Add the bread and the Mozzarella cheese and heat on the oven (let the cheese melt). Spray some chives, and it’s done.
Slow Cooker French Onion with White Wine
Prepare the following: butter (3 tablespoons), onions (2 lbs), beef stock (5 cups), sherry (half a cup), white wine (2 cups), Worcestershire sauce (a tablespoon), 1 garlic clove, shredded cheese (half a cup), and some bread.
Cook the onion and butter on a medium heat skillet; now transfer them into the slow cooker and add in the Worcestershire sauce, beef stock, garlic, white wine and sherry. You may either set it to low or high. At the former it will take 7 hours to cook, and in the latter 4 hours.
Serve this slow cooker French onion soup with the sliced bread, and sprinkle more cheese if necessary. If you like you may crumble the breads and spray them with the cheese.
The French are known for their love of fine food, and this soup is a fine example. Serve on the side, and enjoy more satisfying meals.
