Recipes Ideal for Dishes Cooked in Crock Pots

Crock pots are also known as slow cookers. As a matter of fact, the term “Crock Pot” is the trademarked name of the slow cooker developed by appliance manufacturer Rival Industries. But because of its popularity, the term has started to be used as a generic term for slow cooker.

Crock pots can be safely used by anyone. It can even be left running for long hours without having to check it every hour or every minute of the day. This is because of the fact that crock pots are designed to cook dishes for hours and hours. And to make it convenient for people, manufacturers have come up of crock pots that can be left unattended without having to worry that the food might get burned or might not be cooked the way people want it to be cooked.

Various dishes can be cooked using the crock pot. In this regard, allow us to talk about a crock pot cooking recipe that will make the lives of busy people easier. This crock pot cooking recipe is very simple to prepare and it is what we can call a worry-free recipe.

This crock pot cooking recipe is called the Savory Pot Roast. The ingredients needed are a four-pound pot roast, a tablespoon of butter, ½ cup of chopped onion, eight ounces of mushrooms that are sliced, ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of catsup, ¼ cup of dry red wine, two tablespoons of Dijon mustard, one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of pepper, one clove of minced garlic, two tablespoons of cornstarch, and three tablespoons of water.

Before anything else, all the visible fat of the pot roast must be trimmed off before placing the pot roast in the crock pot. The crock pot must be set on low position as the other ingredients are being prepared. The butter must be heated on medium-low heat in a skillet before sautéing onion and mushrooms. The cooked mushrooms and onion must be placed in a bowl together with the minced garlic, pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, wine, catsup, and water. Mix such ingredients well before pouring it over the pot roast. Once this is done, continue to cook on low position for a maximum of 9 hours. After nine hours, the pot roast must be taken out of the crock pot to be sliced. The crock pot must now be adjusted on high. Stir cornstarch dissolved in water into the crock pot. Cook for another twenty minutes or until the sauce becomes thick. The pot roast may now be served with the sauce.
