Putting the Sizzle in Steaks with a Slow Cooker
If you’ve ever wanted to cook steak on a crock pot but were afraid to do so, well fear not; it isn’t a big mystery, and putting it all together requires no more than patience and of course, a healthy appetite for good food.
Beef Steak
There are several kinds of slow cooker steak recipes, but one that ranks among the all time favorites is definitely this one. To get things moving, you’ll need about 2 pounds of round steak, fresh mushroom (8 ounces or more), 1 and a half cups of onion (chopped), dry stroganoff (1.5 ounces), country gravy mix (about 2 and half ounces), a can of beef broth, pepper, half a cup of dry red wine, salt and a teaspoon of parsley flakes.
After you slice the steak into pieces, put it in the slow cooker with the onions and mushrooms. Pour in some of the gravy and stroganoff, and also some of the beef broth and wine. Mix the ingredients well. Add as much parsley and pepper as needed.
Set the slow cooker to low and let it cook for 9 hours. Before you serve, you can add a dash of salt and pepper.
Swiss Steak
One of the most sumptuous recipes you can make in a slow cooker is Swiss steak. If you’ve never tried it before, here’s how; get a pound or two of Swiss steak, half a teaspoon of salt, an onion (large, sliced), ¼ cup of flour, parsley flakes (1 teaspoon), 1/8 teaspoon of ground pepper, chopped celery (1 cup), 1 can of tomatoes (diced), and a can of cream mushroom soup.
After the onions are sliced, place them inside the slow cooker. Next take a plate and put in the parsley, salt, flour and pepper. Take each meat slice and immerse it in with the mixture, and use a mallet to flatten the meat.
Now take the meat and put it in the slow cooker and sprinkle some celery on top. Get a bowl and put in the diced tomatoes, mixing it with the mushroom cream and also some of the flour. Once it has been mixed thoroughly, pour over the steak. Put the lid on the slow cooker and let it cook at a low setting.
After 7 hours the dish should be ready. When serving, you may add some potatoes and vegetables.
Slow cooker steak recipes aren’t reserved for kitchen wizards. As long as you have the ingredients at hand, and the willingness to learn, you can create these recipes without a hitch.
