Prepare a Crock Pot Chicken Dish in Easy Steps

There are numerous recipes existing for crock pot chicken and this will be the focus of our discussion. When we say crock pot chicken recipes, it means chicken recipes that are cooked using a crock pot or a slow cooker.

A slow cooker is a kitchen appliance ideal for cooking dishes that contain water at a relatively low temperature. The term Crock Pot is actually a trademarked name for the slow cookers manufactured by Rival Industries. The term was eventually used informally to refer to any kind of slow cookers. Slow cooking is a convenient method of cooking because the crock pot or the slow cooker can operate unattended and be safely left unattended.

When preparing crock pot chicken dishes, chicken thighs or legs are commonly used because they can be cooked for 8 to 10 hours long. Unlike when you use chicken breast meat, it can turn soft when cooked for more than 6 hours on low temperature. Another advantage of using chicken thighs or legs is that they can be bought cheaper compared with the chicken breast meat. Moreover, chicken thighs or legs are known to have richer flavor. We would like to present to you a chicken recipe that is ideal to cook in a slow cooker. This slow cooking recipe is called Crockpot Lemon Chicken, and it can either be served over hot rice or over noodles.

The ingredients for this crock pot chicken recipe include 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs that are cut into 1-inch pieces, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/3 cup of flour, 1/8 teaspoon of pepper, 3 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar, 6-ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate, 3 tablespoons of water, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.

You may start preparing this crock pot chicken recipe by mixing flour with salt and pepper in a dish. After doing so, you may start coating chicken pieces in the mixture. Using a nonstick skillet, cook the chicken pieces in olive oil over medium high heat until chicken becomes brown. Once cooked, remove chicken from the skillet and place it in a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker.

Mix such ingredients as vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and lemonade concentrate in a bowl and pour into the skillet. Cook and stir this mixture and bring to a boil. As soon as it boils, pour such mixture over the chicken you placed in a slow cooker. Cover and cook for 7 to 8 hours on low temperature. It can also be cooked on high temperature but make sure that it will only be for 3 to 4 hours.

The sauce of the crock pot chicken dish can be prepared by mixing cornstarch with water in a bowl, and then stirring it into the sauce. Cook it for 20 to 30 minutes on high temperature, and wait until the sauce thickens.

As easy as that, you may prepare a chicken recipe using the slow cooking method and have a great tasting meal.
