Hungarian Goulash on Slow Cookers

The goulash began in Hungary and spread throughout Europe and the Americas owing to its great taste and also because of how easy it was to prepare. There are numerous variants of the dish, and two of the most delicious are the following.

Traditional Beef Hungarian Goulash

Here you’ll need about 1 and ½ lbs of beef stew (alternatively you can use round steak), minced garlic (2 cloves), chopped onion (a cup), half a teaspoon of water, salt and pepper. A couple of tablespoons of tomato paste, flour (1/4 cup), paprika (a couple of tablespoons), sour cream (1/4 cup), and some noodles (buttered) are also necessary.

To make the Hungarian goulash, place the beef stew inside the slow cooker, together with the onions and garlic; dash some pepper and salt to flavor it. Now pour in the water, paprika and also some of the tomato paste. Make sure this mixture is distributed evenly throughout the beef.

With the slow cooker set at low, it will take about 9 hours for the meat to become tender. After 9 hours, open the crock pot and sprinkle in some water, sour cream and also the flour. Stir it well for 15 minutes or so. Put everything on a serving bowl and serve with the noodles.

Hungarian Goulash with Mustard

In this slow cooker recipe, a couple of tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce is required, and also a big sliced onion, chuck beef roast (2 lbs), a tablespoon of brown sugar, half a cup of ketchup, sweet paprika (2 tablespoons), salt (2 tablespoons), water (1 and ¼ cups), half a teaspoon of mustard (dry), and about ¼ cup of flour.

Rest the beef inside the slow cooker, lacing it with some of the onions. Use a medium sized bowl and mix the Worcestershire sauce, salt, paprika, ketchup, mustard, and water. When it’s thoroughly combined, pour over the beef.

This Hungarian goulash needs about 9 hours to cook over a low set slow cooker. When it’s about to be served, add the flour and water, and mix well with the goulash. After 15 minutes of more stirring (set to high), it will be set. This is good for about 6 helpings (depending on the size of each serving of course).

Slow cooker Hungarian goulash recipes are flavorful and can fill you up easily. Prepare this in the evening, and when you get up the following day, a splendid meal will await you and your family.
