If you get a hankering for beef stew, then it’s time to get that slow cooker in the kitchen and whip out some mouthwatering meals. As you will learn, these recipes won’t require a lot from you.
Beef Stew with Vegetables
Prepare the following ingredients: 1 lb pound of beef (cut into thin slices or cubes), a strip of bacon (chopped or diced), apple cider (1 cup), chopped onions (1 cup), beef broth (1 cup), 2 lbs of medium sized diced potatoes, carrots (medium, sliced), celery (2 ribs), rutabaga (1 and half cups) and a bay leaf.
For this slow cooker recipe you’ll also need the following: black pepper (1/8 teaspoon), flour (2 teaspoons), cold water (2 tablespoons) and parsley (1 tablespoon).
Put the beef and onions in a skillet (medium heat), and cook it until the meat browns. Next place the beef stew and the onions in the slow cooker, adding the bacon, apple cider, carrots, broth, celery, and the other vegetables. Spray some pepper.
Set it to low (this will take about 8 hours). When the beef stew is cooked, mix some flour with cold water and put it in the beef stew. Set the slow cooker to high and cook for another 15 minutes.
Beef Stew and Pinto Beans
Get 1 and ½ lbs of beef, olive oil (2 tablespoons), flour (3 tablespoons), rib celery (3 pieces, sliced), chopped onion (1 and ½ half cups), a couple of carrots; you’ll also want some chopped green bell pepper, 1 red pepper (sweet and chopped), salt (1 teaspoon), black pepper (1/4 teaspoon), 2 15oz cans of pinto beans and a can (10oz) of condensed beef broth.
This slow cooker recipe will also require a couple of cans of diced tomatoes (14 ounces each), and a can of frozen corn kernels.
Cook the beef stew in a skillet, mixing in some flour in the process (medium heat). Put in some chopped onion and sauté until it turns brown. Take both green and red bell peppers and put them in the slow cooker along with the tomatoes, carrots, celery, broth, beans and the cooked beef stew and onions.
Set the slow cooker to high. After 4 hours, remove everything and put on a plate. Add the kernel on top. This dish is best served with some muffins.
These meals sound more difficult to prepare than they actually are. Once you learn how to make these beef stew recipes, you’ll find making other beef and steak dishes simpler and more straightforward.
