Crock Pot Recipes for Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken noodle soup is not only a favorite of children but it is also a favorite of adults. Some say that chicken noodle soup is therapeutic for people with fever, especially if it is prepared by mothers. So, here are some of the chicken noodle soup recipes that can be prepared for both children and adults. These recipes are also intended for mothers who love to cook for their children and their families.
The chicken noodle soup recipes that we want to partake are those that can be cooked in a slow cooker or a crock pot. And the ingredients for the first chicken noodle soup recipe that we will mention are 3 ½-pound chicken pieces, four cups of water, four cups of chicken broth, one teaspoon of seasoned salt, one teaspoon of salt which will be used to season the dish, ¼ teaspoon of pepper, one chopped leek or small onion, one chopped carrot, two stalks of chopped celery, ¼ cup of chopped parsley, ½ teaspoon of basil or dried marjoram, one bay leaf, and six ounces of noodles.
To prepare this chicken noodle soup recipe, all the ingredients must be placed in the crock pot except for the noodles. Those ingredients must be cooked on low for approximately six hours. Afterwards, the chicken must be removed from the crock pot together with the bay leaf. The chicken bones must be taken out and the chicken pieces must be diced before returning the pieces in the crock pot with the broth. The noodles must then be added too. For another hour, let the food be cooked or wait until the noodles get cooked. In some cases, the noodles get cooked after thirty minutes. Some people also opt to separately cook the noodles which will then be added before serving the entire dish.
We know of another way of preparing a chicken noodle soup recipe and this time, the ingredients are fewer than the first ones mentioned. The ingredients include a whole chicken that weighs approximately 3 ½ pounds, three to four cans of Swanson chicken broth, an 8-ounce package of frozen mixed vegetables that include carrots, zucchini and corn, an 8-ounce package of cooked egg noodles, and salt and pepper to taste.
The crock pot must be set on high position. Make sure that the whole chicken is washed and cleaned before placing it inside the crock pot and before cooking it for four hours. You will know when the chicken is cooked because chicken pieces fall off the bones. As soon as it gets cooked, remove it from the crock pot to let it cool.
Adjust the crock pot’s setting on low and put the chicken broth inside. Debone the whole chicken before incorporating it with the broth. The spices and frozen vegetables must then be added and let all these ingredients be cooked for an hour. The cooked noodles must then be incorporated with the ingredients in the crock pot and let it stay in the crock pot for another thirty minutes. Do not forget to season the dish to taste.
