Beef brisket can come in many forms and shapes, and using your slow cooker, you can put together recipes guaranteed to impress even those with discriminating tastes.

Spiced Brisket

For this slow cooker recipe 4 lbs of beef brisket are needed; also 1 and a ½ cups of water, ketchup (1/4 cup), sauce for seasoning (your choice, about 2 tablespoons), onion, soup mix (1 package), ground cinnamon (half a teaspoon), ground allspice (1/2 teaspoon), garlic (minced), pepper (1/4 teaspoon), and flour (1 tablespoon mixed with 2 to 3 tablespoon of water).

Start by putting the beef brisket inside a slow cooker (you may want to slice it first). Take the water, soup mix, ketchup, sauce, garlic and some pepper. Let the entire mixture cook for about 7 hours (set the crock pot to low).

When it’s cooked, remove the beef from the slow cooker. Put it on a saucepan and let it cool down. Meantime take some flour and mix it with the juices and let it cook until it gets thick. This will be the gravy.

Brisket with Beer

This slow cooker brisket recipe will need 3 lbs of beef brisket (lean), vegetable oil (1 tablespoon), a couple of carrots (sliced), red potatoes (5, cut in half), tapioca (2 tablespoons), 1 large onion (sliced) and ¾ cups of beer.

You will also need a tablespoon of mustard, dried leaf thyme (half a teaspoon), dried and crushed rosemary (1/4 teaspoon), half a teaspoon of salt, clove garlic (3 pieces, sliced), a bay leaf and water (1/4 cup).

Step one is to cook the beef brisket on a medium heat skillet, letting it turn brown. Take the potatoes, carrots and onions and throw in the slow cooker, spraying some tapioca sauce as well. Once the beef is cooked put it in the crock pot too, and then sprinkle some beer, along with the other ingredients. You may substitute red wine for the beer instead, if you prefer.

Adjust the setting of the slow cooker and set it to high. In about 6 hours the beef brisket will be ready. Before you serve it take away the bay leaf and pour some of the tapioca into a saucepan and then place the beef brisket beside it.

There exists a notion that cooking beef is difficult, but it actual fact it is relatively straightforward. The first time you try it you’ll probably be nervous, but you’ll get accustomed to it very quickly, and sooner than later, you’ll find it a breeze to prepare especially with a slow cooker.
