A Delicious Crock Pot Pheasant Recipe
The crock pot, which is also known as a slow cooker, is a very useful kitchen appliance. The nice thing about crock pots is that since its temperature usually does not reach above one hundred degrees Celsius (two hundred and twelve degrees Fahrenheit), it is very difficult to burn a dish using it. A crock pot recipe usually takes very little work, since the majority of the cooking time is spent simply leaving the dish alone in the appliance. Crock pots are best used for stews, soups, and other liquid-based dishes that require long cooking times, but with a little research, it is actually possible to find recipes on how to make puddings and cakes using the slow cooker.
Pheasant is a truly delicious dish to try using the crock pot. A crock pot pheasant is much like any other pheasant dish in that a person can let their imagination go wild. There are a lot of different ways to cook crock pot pheasant. Usually, most people will associate pheasant with roasted dishes, but this delicious bird should not just be limited to the oven. Possibilities for recipes like pan-seared pheasant, or pressure-cooker pheasant, or crock pot pheasant are limitless. One of the down sides to roasting pheasants is that unless the bird is very young, pheasant has an unfortunate tendency to dry out fairly quickly. Since crock pots are best used for dishes that use a lot of liquid, there is certainly no danger of your crock pot pheasant drying out.
One way to cook crock pot pheasant is to first prepare it by chopping it into smaller pieces, and frying them for about three minutes on each side. Afterward, place the pieces into the crock pot without discarding the oil. With the used frying pan, sauté half an onion and about two cloves of chopped garlic, adding salt and pepper to taste, as well as one half cup of sliced mushrooms. Cook these for five to ten minutes or until the mushrooms and onions have softened. Afterward, add one half cup of white wine, and boil it for about five minutes. Add chicken broth to the mixture and bring that to a boil again. When this is all done, pour the mushrooms and wine mixture into the crock pot and add some black olives.
Leave this particular crock pot pheasant recipe alone on the low settings for seven hours, or on high for four hours. Afterward, you will have a delicious, tender, and flavorful crock pot pheasant dish that the whole family can enjoy.
