The Crock Pot Special Delayed Start Feature
Crock pots are wonderful breakthrough innovations in unsupervised cooking where most cooking procedures are left to the automatic slow cooker. Another more recent breakthrough innovation is the delayed start cooking feature.
The cock pot delayed start cooking feature is very ideal for extra busy people who want to enjoy scrumptious dinners despite their very hectic daily schedules. The usual procedure here is to freeze ingredients the night before and prepare them in the crock pot just before going to bed. Set the delayed start at an early hour in the morning so that cooking starts then and calculated to finish right on time for breakfast, or for lunch, depending on the length of time. Then the dish will be ready and waiting for diners at breakfast or lunch time.
Or, the crock pot, after the delayed start selection is turned on, can keep breakfast meal ingredients the night before and then start cooking an hour before breakfast the following day so that the meal will be ready, fresh and hot, come breakfast time. It’s a wonderful feeling to wake up to a freshly cooked breakfast of, say, oatmeal and fruits. A crock pot delayed start feature is often incorporated in the slow cooker timer.
But cooking meats and fish with a crock pot delayed start feature may be ill advised. Remember that the crock pot won’t start cooking, when set for a delayed start, until after some hours. Letting meats and fish remain soaked or idle in pots in room temperature is not healthy. The better alternative is to cook meat and fish dishes in low heat for long hours by setting the timer. This keeps the whole dish in constant heat until cooked.
A crock pot with a delayed start feature is best used for light breakfast meals that do not contain meats or fish. Frozen veggies are ideal. Preparing ingredients the night before, including vegetables just taken from the freezer, can be cooked with a delayed start in a crock pot. Oatmeal varieties are also excellent for this crock pot cooking option.
The good thing about a crock pot delayed start feature is that people won’t have to wake up early in the morning just to prepare and cook breakfast. The precious hours saved may instead be used for an extended sleep in the morning. And then on waking up, everything is cooked and waiting for serving and eating.
Breakfast and other meals need not be a burden to prepare for with the crock pot delayed start feature.
