Hamburger Recipes for Slow Cookers
Sure you can eat hamburgers in any fast food joint, but why not make your own? It’s easy enough with a slow cooker, and you get to amaze your friends with your cooking prowess too.
Hamburger with Cabbage
One great way to start learning how to cook hamburgers is with this recipe. The ingredients are: a pound of ground beef (extra lean, and don’t let it turn brown), 6 cups of cabbage (shredded), half a teaspoon of salt, pepper (1/4 teaspoon), an onion (medium sized, chopped), grain rice (1 cup), a jar of spaghetti juice (28 oz), half a cup of water, seasoned salt (1/4 teaspoon), and ¼ cup of dried and crushed basil leaves.
The initial step is to take half of the cabbage and put it into the slow cooker. Now you should crush the ground beef and spray it over the cabbage. Add about ¼ teaspoon of the salt and 1/8 teaspoon of the pepper as well. Layer the meat with the onion and some of the rice too.
Add the other half of the cabbage, salt and the pepper. Now you mix the spaghetti sauce, water, basil and salt and dash over the cabbage and hamburger. Put the slow cooker on low and allow 6 hours for all the ingredients to cook fully.
Hamburger Casserole
For this popular slow cooker recipe, get a couple of cups of potatoes (raw), 1 pound of lean beef, celery (chopped, 1 and ½ cups), a cup of onion (sliced thin), bell pepper (or you can use both red and green pepper), a 15 ounce can of diced tomatoes, salt (a couple of teaspoons will be all right), pepper (seasoned, ¼ cup) and some bell pepper rings.
Start this hamburger dish by putting in a bowl the ground beef and add some of the salt, pepper, and sprinkling some of the celery, potatoes, pepper, tomatoes, and onions. Make sure that the seasonings are evenly scattered throughout. Top it with the bell pepper rings.
You can now place them in the slow cooker and let it cook for about 7 hours on a low level setting. You may add some more seasoning if you want before serving.
Contrary to what most people think, hamburgers aren’t just for sandwiches, and are in fact quite as versatile as any other meat. If you’re getting tired of the usual dishes, then these slow cooker recipes will help you learn other ways of cooking –and relishing- this old favorite.
